Artwork 'Erbarme dich'

This artwork bears the German words 'Erbarme dich', which can be translated as 'Have compassion'. The text is taken from Johann Sebastian Bach’s St Matthew Passion and was designed by Maud Bekaert as a tribute to her beloved composer. The classical Roman capitals deliberately contrast with a contemporary composition. The letters have been laser-cut from brass. The work invites contemplation, listening and compassion.
